 Christopher Columbus

I will be sharing 15 facts about Christopher Columbus in this blog post. Christopher Columbus was a famous explorer who travelled to the Bahamas.

1. Christopher was born in 1451 in Genoa, Italy

2. He died in May 20, 1506

3. He is very well known for discovering the Americas

4. He has a brother named Bartholomew

5. Christopher lived in Lisbon for a time 

6. In 1492 Christopher discovered the Americas 

7. He was buried in Spain, then moved to Santo Domingo and then moved back to Spain

8. Christopher brought Horses on his second Voyage

9. He thought that Asia was 2,400 miles from Spain but actually it was 10,000 miles!

10. He had three ships named the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria on his first voyage

11. Christopher presented Turkeys, Pineapples and some of the Bahamas Natives to the King of Spain

12. He voyaged three more times to the Americas

13. Christopher also visited Cuba and Hispaniola

14. He thought that the Bahamas were off the coast of east Asia

15. Christopher has been arrested as well for mistreating some colonists
